Project India Report...
What is the Life of a Missionary?
On 22 Sept 2010 we arrived in New Delhi, Gujarat, India knowing our departure was 22 Feb 2011.
We came to India prepared to "lay down our lives." One of our friends was asked, "what is the life of a missionary?" Her reply, "Simply a chance to die."
In 1 Corinthians 15 we read a magnificent discourse on the Resurrection by the Apostle Paul. The hope of the resurrection is our hope! Yes, the helmet we "put on" in Ephesians 6, is called, "the hope of salvation" in I Thes 5:8. Without this hope, the Gospel is not preached with power.
If you were to ask me now "what is the life of a missionary?" I would tell you "It is living in the power of the resurrection!" This is why Messiah told the 12 disciples as He sent them out in Matthew 10 to expect persecution, even to to the extent that they may be called upon to lay down their lives. And He told them in verses 29-31 to "fear not" for they were "of more value than many
sparrows."
The Gospel Must be Preached with Power!
Can you hear the Spirit saying through the Apostle Paul, "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth!" (Rom 1:16) And in I Cor 1:23-24, "But we preach Christ crucified...unto them which are called...Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God."
This too was our message! "My preaching was (is) not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your (their) faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (I Cor 2:4-5)
Our message was simple: the Gospel of Messiah Yeshua, Jesus the Christ. And the Gospel was ministered in more than 100 villages! There are hundreds of new believers who came to kneel at the foot of the cross. Many seeds have been planted and we are believing God to complete that which He has begun in them.
Over and over again, the people were trying to live like the people in Ephesus by adding Jesus to the 330 million gods they were already serving. As we declared the Gospel with boldness souls were saved! (See Acts 4:13, 29, and 31 for more on boldness.)
Yes, there were many other miracles, and healing was a common occurrence. Many that were oppressed by demons were set free, delivered by the power of God, and translated from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light! Amen!
The harvest in India is greater than we could ever imagine. If the fields were white unto harvest in Messiah's day...how much greater is the need for laborers today?
Why do we invest 95% of our resources to reach 5% or those who have never heard? Out of every $100 designated for missions today, only .01 is designated to reach those called unreached and unengaged. Short term missions is at an all time high while those who are answering the call into full time missions has declined. Being Moved With Compassion.
(For those who say there is nothing for them to do...you need not look any further!)
How many times have we seen those heart wrenching infomercials about children, seniors, even whole villages living in total poverty only to change the channel before the images burn within us? It is hard to imagine trying to live on less than one dollar a day anywhere. Children abandoned by their parents and seniors rejected by their children due to economic hardship is common place in India.
Before you stop reading, realize that many of these people who are living on rice and water that we are sharing about are our brothers and sisters in Messiah. Many who are able spend their day working in the rice paddy's. They work for a portion of rice or for100 - 140 rupees a day. If it rains, which it does often, their is no work and no pay. And there are plenty of "rainy days." When cyclones hit many lives are lost, homes destroyed and fields wasted (called "spoiled" in India). We were witness to the devastation a cyclone brings.
Children, because of the economic challenges enter into the labor force. And the state of Andhra Pradesh ranks number 1 with more than 20%. Many never receive the education needed to break out of this cycle of poverty. Housing, food, and clothing are out of reach. Hostels and Orphanized Homes could be opened on every corner and you would still miss so many. Many ministries begin with compassionate hearts for the children and cannot meet the physical and financial pressures of providing for children in need,
Many seniors have been neglected by family members who are struggling to survive. The no longer can enter into the fields and are totally dependent upon others for their basic necessities. When they have the strength to find fire wood, it is scare. And they cannot afford to purchase word for cooking. Their strength fails them and they can no longer perform the basic household chores such as cleaning and washing clothes.
Grace Ministries-India...
Andhra Pradesh, S. India
1. Currently in the village of Koti in Andhra Pradesh, S. India we have 1 feeding center ministering
to 20-25 seniors daily with 1 hot meal/day. A refrigerator was purchased for this ministry as well as a large rice cooking pot and lid.
2. A tribal church was sponsored where no church has ever been erected! And we were able to assist with many other church-planting tribal evangelists.
3. Grace also sponsored 1 well in Barrimamidi Village and is placed where 15 villages can draw
from this resource withing 2-3KM (about 1 1/2 miles) Whereas before they were walking 3-4 KM
(2 miles) for dirty water.
4. Blankets for the Kotipalli Children's Home (61) were purchased. There is no way to describe
the response of the children.
5. We also adopted a second village near Kakinada, Banjo. There is no church/congregation here and a building is being built as resources are received. The building will also serve as a location for a local congregation and a compassionate care center with clothing, food, and educational resources.
6. Ongole...we met with India Christian Ministries founder James Rebbavarapu. ICM has a heart to reach every tribe in Andhra Pradesh with the Gospel. To find out more about this ministry visit: http://www.indiachristianministries.org/
Tamilnada, S India...
Calvary Children's Home. This is where our hearts were broken...and where we were taught about living by faith. It seemed as if we were guests of honor at George Mueller's home.

Where Do We Go From Here?
We are on our fund-raising and reporting tour...
A Personal Note:
During our initial trip to India, we faced many obstacles and persecutions. Your prayers were as important as the very air that we breath. And they will be needed as we move forward.
There are many “ministries” in India where individuals have not become gainfully employed and make the decision to enter into full time ministry as a means to support their families. There is a difference between a call to ministry by the Almighty and seeking the ministry as a vocation. As you pray for us, please pray for our discernment in these situations.
We also know that your emails, letters, texts, calls and yes, visits, are all sources of encouragement we will need as we press forward with India Phase-II Becoming Established in the Land.
We have a Skype account and our Skype name is: “the_walters1”.
Many of you have supported us through each stage of our journey. Words seem empty compared to our heartfelt “thank you” for your faithfulness. We know that many of you have been giving out of your need, in order to enable us to reach so many souls. To God Be The Glory!
In Simple Obedience...
